Brothers Antonio and Paolo Sperone own and manage this small family estate in the Piedmont. Having already discovered their extremely good, value-priced Barolo, we had to try their Pinot Noir when we heard about it. And we were very impressed. Not just because it is a textbook example of beautifully balanced, cool-climate grown Pinot Noir, but because the price was unheard of for a wine of this quality. Piedmont is a very similar micro-climate to Burgundy and this Pinot shows classic characteristics of black cherry and strawberry fruit with bright acidity, earthy nuances and lively tannins. It's aged six months in oak barrels and shows a marked complexity. Rated 93 Points Lisa's Staff.
