The Clos de los Siete is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah aged for 12 months in French oak (first, second and third fill.) The nose is packed full of blackberry and mulberry fruit, although it is missing the delineation and lift of other Argentinean reds at the same price point. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins on the entry. It is nicely balanced with good depth and length, underpinned by a solid core of toasty blackberry and raspberry fruit. My main quibble is that it finishes rather clumsily without the focus and clarity that I expected. Still, it has good substance and is packed full of flavor. Drink over the next 3-6 years.
