Aia dei Colombi is a brand-new winery, a small family affair, founded in 2002. But high in the hills east of Naples they make one of Italy’s oldest wines, dating back to pre-Roman times. Falanghina is the same grape once celebrated by the Romans as Falernina, the glory of the empire. Today it has been reborn as a modern wine with a real sense of place. It is mineral and fresh, with a full-bodied palate of peach and plum fruit and a long, dry finish.
